Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)
BisMillaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent,
the Merciful

them, whereas their expulsion was itself unlawful for you. Believe ye in part
of the Scripture and disbelieve ye in part thereof? And what is the reward of
those who do so save ignominy in the life of the world, and on the Day of
Resurrection they will be consigned to the most grievous doom. And Allah is
not Unaware of what ye do.

Commentary
‘Al-kitaabu – (the Book)), it
aims Torah; the Heavenly Scripture of the Jews. This argument is being
fixed upon them that besides following the commands of Holy Qur’an, even they do not obey
commands of their own Holy Scripture fully. They obey only those some commands,
in which they consider their own benefit. Which commands demand sacrifice, they
put them behind themselves.
In this verse, wicked deeds of the
Children of Israel and breach of covenant by them have been explained. They
used to exile their colleagues first of all, by fighting them. Whenever they
used to become prisoners of other nations, then the Jews set them free quickly
paying compensation to show their sincerity, still it is fact that it was
unlawful for them to exile their religious brothers. So, it is found that they
obey the Command of Torah that the prisoners should be set free, but they do
not obey this order that they should not be exiled.
Allah Almighty commands along with it,
“And what is the reward of those who do so save ignominy in the life of the
world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be consigned to the most
grievous doom. And Allah is not Unaware of what ye do”.
