Power of Belief

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. 
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 إِنَّ وَلِۦِّىَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ 196

 وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَمِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ 197

 وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ 198

196.  Lo! my Protecting Friend is Allah Who has revealed the Scripture. He befriendeth the righteous. 197.  And they on whom ye call beside Him have no power to help you, nor can they help themselves. 198.  And if ye call them to the guidance they hear not. And thou seest them looking toward thee, but they see not.

196.  ‘Inna  Waliyyi-yAllaahul-lazii  nazzalal-Kitaaba  wa Huwa  yata-wallas-Saalihiin. 197.  Wallaziina  tad-‘uuna  min-  duuniHii  laa  yastatii-‘uuna  nasra-kum  wa  laaa  ‘anfu-sahum  yan-suruun.  198.  Wa  ‘in-  tad-‘uuhum  ‘ilalhudaa  laa  yasma-‘uu.  Wa  taraahum  yanzuruuna  ‘ilay-ka  wa  hum  laa  yubsiruun.

Commentary

As much power of Belief and Satisfaction has been filled in these verses; that; it is difficult for the sense of humankind to judge. Therefore, it can be disclosed in the same words that “This power is beyond the measurement and save the Heart of God’s last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); the heart of any other person cannot be owner of this power.

It was described in the previous verses that their idols, to which they have chosen their worshippd, have no power. It is commanded in these verses that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) should say: My Protecting Friend and Supporter is One - Allah Almighty, Who revealed the Scripture, He is able to see, hear and hold everything. He is not like your idols who can neither see, nor hear and nor hold anything. He issues His commands for His servants and is a Redresser of their grievances because He is close to them every time. He gives punishment to the disobedient people. And with His kindness, He makes easy entire works of all of them who are sensible, take His Support, neither they beg from any other and nor have any hope of help from anyone else. I have searched the means of His Protection too; leaving all others. He will guard and help Me. You or your worthless gods cannot hurt Me. Calling by you to them; apart from Allah Almighty, is useless. They cannot help you even a little. How can they help you whereas they do not own any sense? If anyone wants, he can break them at the spot. They can do nothing to save themselves. They will not hear you if you request or beg before them. You consider that they have been looking; but their lifeless eyes cannot see anything because those are like a sign; made by your own hands.
